Hyun-Joon (“HJ”) Kim is an Information Technology Associate at Seabury APG, LLC. Dr. Kim has over nine years experience providing aviation data support and solutions. He is currently responsible for developing new aviation IT products and maintaining Seabury APG’s planning support tools. Dr. Kim has extensive knowledge of many aviation data sources and specializes in market size estimation and creation.
Prior to joining Seabury APG in April 2007, Dr. Kim worked at United Airlines in the Resource Planning group. While at United, he was responsible for supporting the business decisions made by the route planning department. He also provided technical advice to other groups, where he created market sizes and calibrated route profitability models.
Before joining United Airlines, Dr. Kim was a Senior Analyst in the Decision Support department at US Airways. While at US Airways, he supported various departments' business analyses and planning decisions. One of his many accomplishments included designing, implementing, and calibrating market sizes and parameters for Sabre’s Airline Profitability Model. Under Dr. Kim’s guidance, APM’s forecasting accuracy improved considerably. Dr. Kim also played a major role designing and integrating the forecasting systems used by US Airways and America West during the merger of the two airlines.
Before commencing his career in the aviation industry, Dr. Kim was a project engineer at several consulting companies including EDS solutions. He developed optimization algorithms for various industry solutions. His applications have been used in major U.S. corporations, including General Motors and Coca-Cola.
Dr. Kim holds a Ph.D. from University of Central Florida, an M.S. from Oklahoma State University, and a B.A. from Kyung Hee University in South Korea, all in industrial engineering.
