Wizz Air is a Hungarian, low-cost airline which is headquartered in Vecses, Hungary. Established in 2003, with a mere 3 months between conception and operations, the airline serves the markets of Central Europe. Wizz Air began operations just 19 days after Poland and Hungary entered the European Union and the single European aviation market. In its first year of operations, the Airline carried 1.4million passengers.
Wizz Air operates a young, single type Airbus A320 fleet. With 17 aircraft, powered by IAE V-2500 Engines, the airline serves 32 destinations. Most of their destinations are in Poland and Hungary. In 2007, the Airline confirmed an order for an additional 80 Airbus A320 aircraft.
APG supported Wizz Air during their initial start-up process with the introduction of their first six A320 aircraft and full maintenance support agreement negotiations between Wizz Air and Lufthansa Technics.
